Uwe Klein (born August 29, 1954 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a retired German Brigadier General . D. of the Army of the German Armed Forces and was most recently commander of the International Helicopter Training Center in Bückeburg from 2014 to 2018

Military career

Klein joined the Bundeswehr in 1973 as an air force soldier. In 1974 he switched to the Army Aviation Troops and went through officer training at the Army Aviation Weapons School in Bückeburg. From 1975 to 1978 he studied economics and organizational science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg and was then trained as a helicopter pilot in Bückeburg. After completing his training and retraining to the Alouette II model , he was deployed in various positions in the Heeresfliegerregiment 6 Hohenlockstedt . From 1985 to 1988 Klein was squadron captain of the Army Aviation Regiment 15 in Rheine . After retraining on the Bo105 anti-tank helicopter , he was used again in various positions in the 6th Army Aviation Regiment, including as a squadron captain and deputy department commander .

In 1995 he became a G3 staff officer, leadership and management, at the leadership academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg, before he was transferred in 1998 as an army liaison officer to the French army aviation group ALAT in Le Luc France . Between 2000 and 2003 he was head of the deployment staff for the Franco-German Army Aviation Training Center TIGER . Afterwards he was employed as head of the school staff of the Army Aviation Weapons School until 2004. Between 2004 and 2010 he was deputy commander of the Air Mechanized Brigade and, after its renaming, the Air Movable Brigade 1 in Fritzlar . From 2006 to 2007 he took part in the ISAF mission as Chief of Staff Regional Command North and Deputy Commander of the German contingent .

From 2010 to 2012, Klein was head of the French Army Liaison Staff in Paris before returning to Le Luc from 2012 to 2014 as commander of the Franco-German Army Aviation Training Center TIGER.

From 2014 to 2018 he was in command of the Army Aviation School, today's International Helicopter Training Center , and General of the Army Aviation Force .

He was retired in March 2018.
