Uwe Ostendorff

Uwe Ostendorff (* 1964 in Aachen ) is a German social worker . From 2001 to 2007 he was General Secretary of the international falcon organization , the International Falcon Movement - Socialist Educational International IFM-SEI , based in Brussels . Today he works as a clinic expert for the ver.di union . He is the representative of the German Federal Youth Association (DBJR) in the National Action Plan NAP and responsible for the DBJR for the coordination of children and youth activities related to the NAP.

Life

Ostendorff studied social affairs , political science and history and later specialized in sex education . He started numerous “queer” emancipation projects , including the queer forum, and is still active in the queer easter he initiated , a global meeting of social democratic and socialist LGBT groups. In addition, he is committed to the enforcement of children's rights, on which he lectures worldwide, including for political foundations such as the Olof Palme International Center .

After holding various positions in the Jusos (including as deputy district chairman Weser-Ems), the Socialist University Association (SHB), the children's and youth organization Sozialistische Jugend Deutschlands (SJD - Die Falken) and in local youth representatives, he started in 1991 as regional secretary for SJD in northwest Germany. In 1994 he became federal secretary in the nationwide training and education center SBZ (Socialist Education Center "Salvador Allende Haus") of the SJD in Oer-Erkenschwick and at the same time also headed the Olof Palme Institute (OPI), the IFM-SEI's training institute. For four years he was a member of the committee for international youth affairs of the German Federal Youth Association (DBJR).

He is politically active in Berlin and belongs to the Kasseler Kreis, a nationwide association of social democratic trade unionists.

Function of Secretary General of the IFM-SEI

In 2001, Ostendorff was elected General Secretary of the International Falcon Movement IFM-SEI and was re-elected in 2004. As such, he was involved in the preparation of international conferences and forums such as the UN - World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002, the European Social Forum (ESF) in Florence in 2002, the ESF was in Athens 2006. 6 years he representatives of the Coordination Committee the PES .

He campaigns against child labor (including the World Social Forum Nairobi, 2007), was involved in the international congresses of socialist children's organizations in Nuremberg in 2004 and in Vienna in 2007, attended and supported in 2006 after the Lebanon War together with the federal chairman of the SJD, Sven Frye , Partner organizations of the falcon movement in Israel (including Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed ) to promote the dialogue between Arabs and Jews within the framework of peace work and participated in the project of an Austrian peace camp for Israeli and Palestinian children and young people. But he was also involved in international socialist congresses in his role as IFM General Secretary. He is one of the co-founders of the Global Progressive Youth Forum (GPYF) as well as the "Weltjugendring" International Coordination Meeting of Youth Organizations (ICMYO).
