Uwe Ritzer

Uwe Ritzer (born April 16, 1965 in Franconia ) is a German journalist .

Life

After a traineeship with Nürnberger Nachrichten , Ritzer was local editor for the Weißenburger Tagblatt from 1993 to the end of 2004 . From 1998 he worked as a freelancer for the Bavarian section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung . Since 2005 he has been the SZ business correspondent for Northern Bavaria.

Awards

In 2007, together with his SZ colleagues Hans Leyendecker , Klaus Ott and Markus Balser, he was awarded the Henri Nannen Prize in the category of best investigative achievement for reporting on the bribe affair at Siemens . In December 2007 he received the Sparda Foundation's media prize .

He became known at the end of 2012 through research and articles on the Gustl Mollath case , for which he and his colleague Olaf Przybilla were awarded 3rd place in the German daily press' s Guardian Prize in 2013 . In June 2013, the book he wrote with Przybilla about this affair was published.

In July 2014, Ritzer and Bastian Obermayer were awarded the “ Lighthouse Prize for Special Journalistic Achievements” from the Research Network . They had uncovered manipulations in the award of the “Gelber Engel” car award and other abuses at the ADAC .

For this work, Ritzer and Obermayer also received first prize in the Guardian Prize of the German daily press in April 2015 .
