Uz is a village in the former municipality of Vilar de Cunhas in northern Portugal .
The village traditionally lives from livestock and agriculture. It is strongly characterized by emigration. In 2014 49 people lived here.
The young Portuguese director João Pedro Plácido portrayed the village in 2014 with his internationally award-winning documentary Volta à Terra .
