Uzarići is a local community in the town of Široki Brijeg in the southwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina .
The local community, almost exclusively populated by Croats , is located in western Herzegovina and has 1,570 inhabitants in 375 households (2010). During and after the Bosnian War , the population increased rapidly.
The main town of Široki Brijeg is about 5 kilometers away, Međugorje as well as Mostar is about 25 km away. Other places in the Uzarici area are Ljubuški , Grude , Knešpolje , Turčinovići , Biograci and Jare .
Uzarići is an agrarian place in which agriculture, cattle breeding and tobacco growing were predominant and partly still are. The Lištica river flows a few kilometers from the village . There, crayfish are caught and mostly kept in barrels for cooking and eating. Today this area, also known as Mostarsko Blato , is part of a national park ( Neretva Delta ).
