Football League First Division 1990/91

The Football League First Division 1991/92 was the 93rd season of the highest English football league . Then it was replaced by the Premier League and continued to exist as the second highest league. It began on August 17, 1991 and ended on May 2, 1992.

The last English champion of the Football League was Leeds United , which won the third league title after 1969 and 1974. Behind them were Manchester United , just four points behind, as well as the surprisingly strong promoted team Sheffield Wednesday and last year's champions Arsenal FC . Of the promoters, which included Oldham Athletic , West Ham United and Notts County in addition to Sheffield , the last two teams were relegated to the second division after only one year alongside Luton Town . Blackburn Rovers , Ipswich Town and Middlesbrough FC took their places the following year .

A total of 540 players were used, with Manchester United with 20 the fewest and Sheffield United with 36 the most players in league games. 119 newcomers opposed 113 footballers, who last came into play in the 1991/92 season. 18 players were able to play all 42 league games of their club.

    The Leeds United championship team

The following table lists all players who played in a league game for Leeds United during the 1991/92 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
