Václav Drobný (born September 9, 1980 in Mělník , † December 28, 2012 in Hradec Králové ) was a Czech football player .
Life
Career
Drobný started at Aero Odolena Voda, at the age of ten he moved to Sparta Prague . As an 18-year-old, the defender went to Chmel Blšany , where he made his first appearances in the first division. In the 1999/2000 season he was briefly loaned to the then second division club FK Mladá Boleslav . In the following season he was not only a regular in Blšany, but was also appointed to the U-21 team of the Czech Republic. With her Drobný became European champion in 2002 and then moved to the French first division club Racing Strasbourg .
In December 2003 he tested positive for morphine , but was able to make credible that the finding was caused by taking the legal drug codeine .
After a successful 2003/04 season and two appointments to the Czech national team , he moved to Aston Villa on loan , but was not used there. Sparta Prague signed him in August 2005, but initially loaned him to FK Jablonec for six months . In 2007 he moved to the German second division club FC Augsburg for a year , where he scored a goal in 15 games.
After a year and a half at Spartak Trnava , Drobný moved to the Czech first division club FK Bohemians Prague in February 2010 . After he only made eight appearances for FK Bohemians Prague in the 2010/11 season, he ended his active career in the summer of 2011.
Career as a coach
After the end of his career as an active footballer Drobný was assistant coach of Stanislav Nekolný at SK Třeboradice in the Pražský přebor, the fifth Czech league. He held the position of assistant coach until his death in December 2012. In addition to his work as a trainer, Drobný worked as an expert for the Czech television station Česká televize .
death
Drobný had an accident on the night of December 27th to 28th, 2012 with a plastic sledge in Špindlerův Mlýn in the Giant Mountains and was then taken to a hospital in Hradec Králové. He lost consciousness several times on the way to the hospital and had to be reanimated. A few hours after the accident, Drobný died of severe head injuries in the Hradec Králové University Hospital.
