VIJFtv started in October 2004 as the second TV station of SBS Belgium and sister station of VT4 . The first show to be broadcast was a soccer game . That was the way to make sure men turned on the transmitter. Until June 7, 2011, he was part of the ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG broadcasting group . Since June 8, 2011, the station has been in the hands of Sanoma Media, Corelio NV and Waterman & Waterman CVA.

The channel's programming is geared towards a female audience, but lifestyle programs, series and films that interest men are also broadcast.

In January 2006 VIJFtv was able to double its transmission time and has been broadcasting 24 hours a day since then.
