history

Today's VR-Bank Ehningen-Nufringen eG was created in 2017 from the merger of Ehninger Bank eG and Nufringer Bank -Raiffeisen- eG. The bank was founded for the people of Nufring on January 8, 1897 by 58 members as "Kreditkassenverein Nufringen eGmbH". In Ehningen, the original "Loan Association Ehningen im Gäu eGmuH" was established on February 11, 1912 with the amalgamation of 39 citizens of the community, which at that time had around 1500 inhabitants.

The background in each case - as with many similar start-ups - was the insight that the hardship prevailing at the time could best be fought together in large circles of agriculture, craft and trade. At that time the "little people" got loans practically only from usurers. Conversely, there were hardly any opportunities for small savers to invest their nest egg with interest. With the establishment of cooperative banks based on the models of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen and Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch , based on the principles of self-help, self-responsibility and self-administration, effective self-help institutions were created here.

After the first bank office of the "Kreditkassenverein Nufringen eGmbH" was still located in the living room of the first computer, a new warehouse was built and used in 1930 on Bahnhofstrasse in Nufringen. In 1945 it was destroyed in the Second World War and only rebuilt in the same place in 1958. In 1970 the new building on Hauptstrasse in Nufringen was inaugurated. In 1972 a desired merger with Volksbank-Raiffeisenbank Herrenberg eG was rejected by the members. In 1997 the 100th anniversary was celebrated.

In 1929 the Ehninger Bank, at that time still under the name "Loan Association Ehningen im Gäu eGmuH", moved into its own premises for the first time in what was then the warehouse on Bahnhofstrasse. In 1960, the banking business was spatially separated from the goods business by relocating to the newly built Königstrasse 30 building. Soon this house became too small for the growing bank, they moved into the current bank building, which was completed in 1975. In 1997 a second floor was added due to the increased business volume. Between November 2002 and May 2003 the bank modernized its building. In 2012 the centenary was celebrated with a series of events.

With an entry in the cooperative register on July 6, 2017, both institutes merged to form the new VR-Bank Ehningen-Nufringen eG.
