history

In 1917, 28 men from Woltersdorf and the neighboring villages founded the "Spar- und Loanskasse Woltersdorf eGmbH". In the beginning, the majority of customers worked in agriculture. The bank has adapted to the structural changes in agriculture and the changed economic conditions after the Second World War . In 1976 the first merger with the savings and loan association Prezelle -Lomitz took place, which changed the company name to the savings and loan association Woltersdorf-Prezelle eG. Two years later the bank merged with Volksbank Lübbow eG to form Volksbank Wendland eG. In the following year, the Schäfke agricultural business in Schweskau was bought. With the German reunification in 1989/90, development opportunities arose for the cooperative, which was previously in a rather disadvantaged area due to its border location. Numerous mergers, company acquisitions and start-ups, the development of new and the further development of existing business fields and locations within the framework of the business model of mixed economy resulted in the largest mixed-economy credit cooperative in Germany from the small village savings and loan fund.

In 1990, the merger with the Volksbanken in Arendsee and Seehausen was realized and the Raiffeisen relation, processing and installation GmbH (RBVA GmbH) was founded in Osterburg . Just one year after the last mergers, another merger with Raiffeisenbank Osterburg took place. In the same year the agrochemical centers in Osterburg and Seehausen were acquired. In 1995 the company merged with RBVA GmbH in Osterburg, which was founded in 1990. In 1997, another local company was acquired with the purchase of Altmärker Zuckerhandel GmbH (AZH). A year later, another merger with the Raiffeisen-Warengenossenschaft Osterburg (RWG) was carried out. In the following year, through the merger with Volksbank Osterburg eG, the company name was changed to Volksbank Osterburg-Wendland eG. In 2000, Volksbank Lüchow eG was integrated in another merger. In the same year, Volksbank Osterburg-Wendland eG acquired Trocknungs- und Kraftfutterwerk Thüritz GmbH, thus continuing to acquire local agricultural companies. In 2001, Saatbau Dannenberg eG and Volksbank Dannenberg eG were incorporated as part of further mergers. The last change of the company name to Volksbank Osterburg-Lüchow-Dannenberg eG took place. In the years 2002–2004, further agricultural companies were established with the purchase of the Lüchower location of the agricultural engineering company Boddien & Co. (2002), the purchase of Raiffeisen Agrodienst eG Goldbeck (2003) and the takeover of all investments in Raiffeisen Kartoffellager GmbH Pudripp (2004) acquired.

In 2004 the Brandenburgisch-Mecklenburgische Geflügelnahrung GmbH (BMG GmbH) was also founded. In the following two years there were mergers with the agricultural purchasing and sales cooperative Hankensbüttel-Groß Oesingen eG (2005) and the Raiffeisen goods cooperative Elbe-Ostheide (2006). In 2006, Volksbank Osterburg-Lüchow-Dannenberg eG took a stake in Viehvermarktung Elbe-Ilmenau GmbH and founded the subsidiary alka-tec GmbH. Brandenburgisch-Mecklenburgische Geflügelnahrung GmbH (BMG GmbH), founded in 2004, was sold three years later, in 2007. In 2009 the Getreidelagerhaus Lüneburg-Embsen GmbH was purchased. Two years later, in 2011, Raiffeisen Saatenzentrum GmbH Dahlenburg was founded and in 2012 the building and roofing center in Osterburg was acquired. In 2014 the merger with Viehvermarktung Lüchow-Dannenberg eG took place. In 2016 the cooperative acquired Eckhardt GmbH. In 2017 the company merged with Volksbank Clenze-Hitzacker eG and in 2018 with the agricultural procurement and sales cooperative Lüchow eG.
