Vacansoleil Premium Camping (international name: Vacansoleil Camping Holidays) is an international travel company in the field of premium and luxury camping based in Eindhoven (NL) and the market leader as a provider of camping holidays in Europe . In addition to the head office in the Netherlands, there are seven branches in Belgium , Denmark , Germany , France , Italy , Poland and Hungary . Over 200 work in the eight offices and on the campsitesmore than 1200 employees. The German branch was founded in 2004 and is based in Neuss .

Vacansoleil rents out mobile homes , bungalow tents , glamping accommodations, safari tents and pitches on over 500 campsites in Europe. The places are in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Croatia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Switzerland, Slovenia, Spain, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
The accommodations differ primarily in their size and furnishings. The campsites offered by Vacansoleil must meet uniform minimum standards that are regularly checked. Most of the campsites offer entertainment. Vacansoleil has developed various concepts that include an entertainment program for different types of holidaymakers.
history
The family business was founded in 1969 by Frans Backers, a former Philips engineer, and his wife Carolien. The first campsite on offer was Camping Prairies de la Mer on the Côte d'Azur in France , where the Backers initially rented 22 mobile homes. Over the years, more campsites were added and the company developed into one of the most successful providers of camping holidays in Europe. Today the company is run by Frans and Carolien Backer's son Wim Backers. Vacansoleil is a combination of the French words for vacation (vacances) and sun (soleil).

Sports and TV sponsorship
Vacansoleil was the main and name sponsor of the Vacansoleil-DCM from 2009 to 2014 . The team consisted mostly of riders from the Netherlands , Belgium and Italy and has been racing in the first cycling team category as UCI ProTeam since 2011 .
The company is also a sponsor of the Club Camping television format, which has been broadcast on the Flemish TV channel VTM since 2007 . In addition, Vacansoleil was the sponsor and initiator of the television program Campinglife, which was broadcast on RTL4 between 2001 and 2016 .
