Valija Zinck (* 1976 in Ingolstadt ) is a German children's book - author .

Life

She studied contemporary dance in Freiburg im Breisgau and San Francisco , has worked as a freelance choreographer and dance teacher for over 15 years , teaches dance for children and adults and has directed youth music projects. As a choreographer, she was responsible for living life , a piece about getting old and being young in the Berlin Saalbau Neukölln 2010, Der Klicktrip , a solo performance in the Kunstverein Freiburg and Ohoma City , a performance as part of the 3rd Tanzbanale in the Freiburg Theater in 2006. After After the birth of her second child, she began to write and in 2016 published the children's book Jakob und die Hempels unterm Sofa . Valija Zinck lives with her family in Berlin.

She describes the books by Terry Pratchett , Otfried Preussler's Krabat and Kirsten Fuchs Mädchenmeute as defining for her . In 2017 her second book Penelop und der Funkrote Zauber was nominated for the Zurich Children's Book Prize and awarded the Ulmer Unke in the age category 10–12 years and the Golden Book Pirate for 2017. Her book Dragon Awakening received the Leipzig Reading Compass in the age category 10-14 years, awarded by the Leipzig Book Fair and the Reading Foundation in 2019 .
