Varianta 18 on the Cospudener See

The Varianta 18 is a sailing boat from HanseYachts AG .

history

It was presented in November 2009 as a new entry-level model and as the smallest boat from the large-scale shipyard. The ship - designed by Judel / Vrolijk and with the interior design by designer Henrike Gänß - represents a contemporary interpretation of the Dehler 18 Little Red Riding Hood .

Technical Equipment

The boat with a T-keel made of cast iron with an extremely low center of gravity was built at the headquarters of the original Dehler company at the former location in Meschede - Freienohl . It is mainly sold on the internet. In addition to the version with a 1.15 m draft, there is a version with a 0.80 m shallow keel. This keel has an additional weight of 60 kg.

Dehler had tried unsuccessfully to convince the Varianta class association to recognize the new Varianta 18 as the successor to the Varianta 65. This was refused; especially since it is the shape of the body of the Little Red Riding Hood and not a keel sword. Efforts are now being made to establish a separate class association for the Varianta 18.

Cessation of production

Since the production processes of the Varianta 18 cannot be integrated into those of the larger Varianta models, the management of HanseYachts AG announced the discontinuation of production in 2014. The last model of the Varianta 18 to be produced is numbered 299. A replacement model for the Varianta 18 is currently not planned.

The last 22 ships were acquired by the company FSA Segelsport (Mardorf am Steinhuder Meer) by October 2014, which equips them with accessories, some of which it has developed itself, and sells them.
