Varsity Show is an American musical film from 1937. It was developed by Louis F. Edelman , Hal B. Wallis and Jack L. Warner , directed by William Keighley at Warner Bros. produced. The script for the black and white film was written by Jerry Wald , Richard Macaulay , Sig Herzig and Warren Duff . The US premiere took place on September 4, 1937.

The Quadrangle Club at Winfield College raises money and hires Broadway producer Chuck Daly to organize the annual university performance. Daly, a Winfield College alumnus , is in financial difficulties after an unsuccessful year and accepts the offer. However, Professor Sylvester Biddle, who is actually in charge of the event, does not want to give up his post and tries to hinder the students in their planning. When this fails, he convinces the university administration that the organization of the show will not be outsourced to Daly. However, the students occupy a disused Broadway theater for the already planned show, where the show becomes a success.

Busby Berkeley was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Dance Director in 1938 with the dance finale in Varsity Show .
