Vatterode is a district of Dietzenrode / Vatterode in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

location

Vatterode is located on Landesstraße 1003 and has a connection to Landesstraße 1002. These roads connect both partner towns through the Walsetal . The Walse flows into the Werra .

history

The village was first mentioned on August 4, 1331. Vatterode was originally a monastery settlement . Until 1821 the place belonged to the Hessian office Allendorf , then to the Kurhessischen and from 1867 to the Prussian district Witzenhausen . In 1888 the old monastery church was rebuilt. On April 8, 1945, four residents of the village died from American fire. The next day the village was taken without resistance. The previously Hessian village was surrendered to the Soviet occupation zone in 1945 due to the Wanfrieder Agreement through agreed border adjustments and therefore became Thuringian.

On July 1, 1950, Vatterode was incorporated into Dietzenrode. With the incorporation of Dietzenrode, Vatterode came to Wüstheuterode on March 15, 1974 . On June 1, 1990, Dietzenrode and Vatterode were spun off from Wüstheuterode. Since then they have formed the new Dietzenrode / Vatterode community .
