Veera Saar
Veera Saar (* March 15 birth name Veera-Alise Döring jul. / 28. March 1912 greg. In the village Tikapesa at Yamburg, today Tikopis at Kingissepp , Leningrad Oblast , Russia ; † 20th July 2004 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian writer .
life and work
Veera Saar came from an Estonian family. Her father had bought a piece of land east of the Narva River in Russia at the end of the 19th century and emigrated there. After the Russian Revolution , the family returned to Estonia in 1919 .
Veera Saar graduated from high school in Jõhvi in 1931 . She graduated from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Tartu in 1937 . From 1937 to 1959 she was a teacher for Estonian and literature in Tartu , Kehtna and Jäneda .
1949 debuted Saar with her first literary work, children story soit mustikametsa . From 1958 she lived in the village of Aruküla (today Raasiku rural community ) near Tallinn . There she worked as a writer. She spent the last years of her life in Tallinn.
Veera Saar's works often describe rural life from a female perspective. They were stuck with realism. For her, it was mostly about the literary examination of everyday life.
Their stories often have autobiographical traits. The “human core” of her books made Veera Saar a popular writer of her time.

Awards
In 1957 Veera Saar was awarded the title of "Honored Teacher of the Estonian SSR ". In 1970, 1988 and 1997 she received the Eduard Vilde Literature Prize .
