Veit Sorger

Veit Sorger (born June 10, 1942 in Graz ) was President of the Federation of Austrian Industries from 2004 to 2012 .

Life

He received his education through studies at the law faculties of the universities in Vienna and Graz, at the University of Uppsala (Dr. iur.) And at the University of World Trade in Vienna .

From 1967 to 1970 he worked in the insurance industry (Interunfall AG) as assistant to the general director. In 1970 he entered the paper industry with the Salzer Group. From 1982 to 1987 he was the sole director of the Salzer paper and plastics group. Since 1987 he has been the managing director of Europapier AG and has been a board member of Frantschach AG since 1988. In 1989 he became deputy chairman of the board of Frantschach AG. Since 1993 he has been CEO of Frantschach AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Neusiedler AG (now both Mondi AG). Since 2005 he has been formally Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Mondi Packaging AG & Mondi Business Paper Holding AG (formerly Frantschach AG and Neusiedler AG).

In July 2011 he was appointed a new member of the University Council of the Technical University of Vienna by the Austrian Federal Government. From 2018 to 2023 he is Chairman of the University Council of the Vienna University of Technology .

He also took on the role of President of the Association of Austrian Private Foundations , and in 2019 Cattina Leitner succeeded him.

Private

Veit Sorger is married and has three children.
