The Veitlissengraben is a stream in the 13th district of Hietzing in Vienna . It is a feeder of the Marienbach .

The Veitlissengraben has a length of 770 m with a height difference of 95 m. Its catchment area is 1.4 km².

The stream rises like the Schallautzergraben south of the Hagenberg in the Lainzer Tiergarten , from where it runs eastwards. He leaves the Lainzer Tiergarten through a passage in the Tiergarten wall at Adolfstor. Then it flows in the district of Ober St. Veit under the Adolfstorsteg, a 6 m long and 2 m wide pedestrian bridge made of concrete. From Veitlissengasse the Veitlissengraben is run as a brook canal . At the end of the alley it flows underground into the Marienbach.

The Veitlissengraben only has periodic water. There is little risk of flooding. In the event of a flood of the century , infrastructure is affected to a lesser extent and the resident population is affected to a greater extent.

history

Veitlissen is a historical field name . It is derived from the place name (Ober) St. Veit and the medieval term Lüssen .

The Adolfstorsteg was built in 1968.
