The Veitsberg ( 1787  m ) is a summit in the Tyrolean part of the Mangfall Mountains in the Bavarian Prealps .

topography

The Veitsberg is the best-known summit of the ridge, which slopes rather steeply to the north and extends south of the Ackernalm parallel to the Hinteren Sonnwendjoch over a length of almost 10 km. The highest elevation of this ridge, however, is the Frechjoch ( 1789  m ). To the south, the ridge merges into an extensive alpine pasture that extends to the Ellbach, which separates the Bavarian Prealps from the Brandenberg Alps in the Alpine Club division .

Alpinism

The mountain, crowned by a summit cross , is preferably climbed on a marked path from the Ackernalm ( 1360  m ), which is easily accessible via a toll road from Bayrischzell or Kufstein , on the north side in around one and a half hours over the saddle between Thaler Joch and Frechjoch. The ascent from the "Fürschlacht" car park near Riedenberg via the Veitsbergalm is also frequented . There are other ascent possibilities from the Kaiserhaus via the Schmaleggerjoch , Thalerjoch and Frechjoch (around three hours, not designated), from Riedenberg via the Thörleralm (three hours) or via the Karnergraben and Riedebenalm (two and a half hours).
