Velimir Radinović (born January 17, 1981 in Oakville , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian basketball player of Serbian descent who has both nationalities . During his playing career, he was last under contract with the German Bundesliga basketball team WALTER Tigers from Tübingen in 2011 .
Radinović studied in the United States at Ohio State University and was active for the Buckeyes team in NCAA Division I. Here he played together with Brian Brown , who was also active in the BBL . His time with the Buckeyes was overshadowed by the scandal surrounding the Montenegrin player Boban Savović, who had received money when he played for the university team, which was against the regulations of the NCAA. Therefore all results of the Buckeyes until 2002 were deleted from the results lists.
After completing his studies, Radinović went to his parents' homeland in 2004 and worked for Železnik in Belgrade before leaving the club during the December 2005 season. He then moved to Hemofarm in Vršac within Serbia , before playing a season in Clermont-Ferrand, France, in the LNB Pro A in 2007/08 . However, the club rose after only four wins in 2008 at the end of the season. In the following season he also played second-rate, but at Iraklis in Greek Thessaloniki . However, Iraklis only managed to rise again in 2010, when Radinović had already signed a contract to replace the injured Johnnie Gilbert with the first-class MBC in March 2010 in Weißenfels . In the pre -season preparation for the 2010/11 BBL season , he benefited from the injury of the originally signed Finnish center player Antti Nikkilä , whose contract was terminated, and received a new contract with MBC. After the relegation of MBC Radinović moved within the league to WALTER Tigers Tübingen, where he benefited from the sacking of Kenny Williams, who had previously withdrawn from the team and returned to his home country. However, his contract was prematurely terminated by mutual agreement after six games in November 2011. In April 2012 he announced his retirement from professional basketball because of persistent knee problems.
