Venda do Pinheiro is a locality and former municipality in Portugal.
history
During the Napoleonic invasions , General Wellington, as commander of the Portuguese-British defense, built the Torres Vedras lines from 1809 , a series of fortresses intended to prevent French troops from marching through Lisbon. Six fortresses have been preserved in what is now the municipality. These are the fortresses no. 68 to 73, they are under monument protection.
Beatriz Costa was born here in 1907 , in the hamlet of Charneca. She became one of the most popular actresses in Portuguese film to date .
The independent municipality of Venda do Pinheira was only created on July 9, 1985, by outsourcing from the municipality of Milharado .

Venda do Pinheira was a community ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Mafra . 8,173 inhabitants live in the former municipality (as of June 30, 2011).
As part of the administrative reorganization in Portugal, Venda do Pinheiro was merged with the municipality of Santo Estêvão das Galés on September 29, 2013 to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Venda do Pinheiro e Santo Estêvão das Galés .
