Vera Junker

Vera Junker (born June 1, 1961 in Münster ) is a German lawyer , political officer and politician ( SPD ). Since September 10, 2019, she has been State Secretary of the Berlin Senate Department for Finance .

Life

education and profession

After graduating from high school (1980), Junker began studying law , which she completed in 1985 with the first state examination in law. She completed her legal traineeship between 1987 and 1990 in the regional court district of Münster and then passed her second state examination in law (1990). As a result, she began as a government councilor for training in the financial administration of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , before moving as a public prosecutor to the Berlin public prosecutor's office in 1991 , where she worked as a department head in the field of white-collar crime until 2002 . From 2003 to 2006 she was group leader there and took on the role of head of department and department head representative in the field of white-collar crime. In 2006, Junker was promoted to senior public prosecutor and in this role took over the department head for white collar crime; a further promotion took place in 2010, she took over the position of senior public prosecutor in the public prosecutor's office in Berlin . In this position, she acted as head of department in the area of complaints, revisions / legal complaints, and supervision of the Berlin public prosecutor's office.

Political offices

Junker joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany in 1977 . In the party, she was deputy chairwoman of the Hermsdorf department between 2000 and 2012 , and has been an assessor since 2012 . From 2002 to 2006 she was Citizens 'Deputy in the Social Committee of the Reinickendorf District Assembly , and from 2006 to 2009 in the Committee for Citizens' Service as well as Regulatory and General Administrative Matters. Within the Berlin regional association of the SPD, she was deputy chairwoman of the specialist committee for internal affairs and law from 2003 to 2010, and from 2004 to 2012 she was a member of the SPD district executive in Reinickendorf. In addition, she held various positions on the federal and state executive boards of the working group of social democratic lawyers, including from 2007 to 2014 as state chairwoman of Berlin. Junker has been a member of the statutes commission of the SPD state executive in Berlin since 2012 and a district delegate of the SPD Reinickendorf since 2014.

On September 10, 2019, Junker was appointed State Secretary of the Berlin Senate Administration for Finance by Senator Matthias Kollatz . She took over from Margaretha Sudhof , who in July 2019 moved to the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection headed by Christine Lambrecht as State Secretary .

Junker is married.
