Veratric acid is the common name of an aromatic chemical compound from the group of carboxylic acids . It can be understood primarily as a derivative of benzoic acid with two attached methoxy groups or also of veratrole with attached carboxy group.
It occurs naturally in some plants, e.g. B. Germer ( Veratrum album ). Veratric acid can be used as a starting material for the preparation of other chemical compounds (such as veratrol ).
