Crime prevention
Crime prevention serves to prevent illegal acts. A distinction is made between universal (i.e. primary or general), situational or selective (also: secondary) and indicated (also: tertiary or post-incidental) prevention as well as perpetrator , situation and victim-related prevention.
The terms primary , secondary and tertiary prevention suggest a gradation and should no longer be used, since modern criminology is most likely to understand the pattern of selective or indicated prevention as crime prevention.
The programs developed by the federal states to combat the delinquency of threshold criminals are of particular importance, as is the professional training for crime prevention specialists funded by the European Union .
Preventive measures
For the measures in particular, see the table below.

Within the framework of criminal law, general prevention and special prevention are used as justifications for the punishment . Tertiary prevention is carried out under the aspects of deterrence, improvement and security. An effective concept here are youth stations, as they were set up in Gera . The police , juvenile court assistance and the public prosecutor's office work together in a separate building. The aim of this cross-agency cooperation is an appropriate response, which is immediate, educational and preventive.
Fear of crime
Politics and the media contribute to at least a distorted picture of the extent of crime in Germany. The fear of criminal offenses is increasingly responded to with crime prevention.
