The Association for Mecklenburg Family and Personal History e. V. (MFP) is a genealogical association in Warnkenhagen .

history

Before 1989, Franz Schubert established a "Family Research Working Group" within the Mecklenburg Landsmannschaft . After the fall of the Wall, he initiated the first annual meeting of the Mecklenburg family researchers (in Schwerin , Neubrandenburg , Ludwigslust , Bützow ). He organized them independently as events of the Landsmannschaft at the Mecklenburg Cultural Days.

At the same time, in 1995, on the fringes of the 47th German Genealogical Day, a regional working group (LAK) “Family and Personal History” was founded in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional home association. In the years that followed, the Mecklenburg family researchers met under the leadership of the LAK.

In 1997 the time was ripe for an own club. On October 22, 1997, eight amateur genealogists met in Tellow and founded the MFP. The first chairman was Hans-Dietrich Gronau , mathematics professor at the University of Rostock , who held this position until 2014. Andreas Parlow was elected as his successor .

The association has over 200 members, many of them from countries to which people from Mecklenburg have emigrated.
