Unification referendum in Egypt in 1958

The unification referendum in Egypt in 1958 took place on February 21, 1958 at the same time as a referendum in Syria . The vote was taken on the unification of Egypt and Syria to form the United Arab Republic (UAR) and the election of Gamal Abdel Nasser as President of the UAR. Both proposals were accepted with less than 300 votes against.
