Election to Shura in Egypt 2010
The election for the Shura in Egypt 2010 took place on June 1 and 8, 2010 in Egypt .
The Shura Council was the upper house in the Egyptian two-chamber system . Like all elections during the nearly twenty years of President Muhammad Husni Mubarak's reign , these elections were neither fair nor free; they are considered sham elections . International election observers were not allowed.
Electoral process
Of a total of 264 seats in the Shura, 88 were elected every three years, and another 44 were appointed by the President. Of the 446 candidates, 115 were political party representatives and 331 were independents.

As in other elections, the Muslim Brothers were not allowed to run as representatives of their party, but only as independent individuals:
