The Ostharz transport and tariff community , or VTO for short , was formed in 1995 by the transport companies of the former districts of Halberstadt , Quedlinburg and Wernigerode (since July 2007 the common district of Harz ).

development

The VTO originally comprised the following transport companies:

After the district reform in 2007, the WVB, HBB and Q-Bus were merged to form the Harzer Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH (HVB), so that the following companies are currently (as of 2013) combined in the VTO:

Today's Harz district forms the core area of the VTO. However, due to the overland lines, the tickets are also valid beyond that. Bad Harzburg , Braunlage (both in Lower Saxony ), Aschersleben ( Salzlandkreis ), Hettstedt , Wippra (both in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz ) and Oschersleben (in the district of Börde ) also have their own tariff zone within the VTO .

Tariff structure

The aim was for tickets to be mutually recognized within the three districts and for a uniform price table to be set up.

The price table has been revised, the 10-card (since 2011 also 4-card), a transferable weekly and monthly card, a trainee weekly and monthly card as well as the 9 o'clock card exclusively for city traffic in Blankenburg and Wernigerode have been introduced, the family day ticket and the city card. On May 1, 2008, the social ticket was also introduced, so that Hartz IV recipients are entitled to buy tickets at the reduced tariff (“child tariff”). For the HVG area, the VTO tickets are only valid for season tickets that contain the Halberstadt tariff zone; in all other cases, a separate ticket must be purchased for the HVG tram.

The following tickets are offered:

  • The 9 o'clock card is valid for one month in the city traffic of Wernigerode and Blankenburg and is valid for any number of journeys.
  • Family day ticket is valid for two adults and two children (up to 11 years, since 2011 up to 14 years) only in city traffic in Blankenburg and Wernigerode.
  • CityCard is valid for one year from the start and entitles you to use city traffic in Blankenburg and Wernigerode.
  • HarzTourCard is valid for three consecutive days in all participating companies.
  • HarzMobilCard is an additional card that entitles you to travel with the reduced ticket ("child tariff") for one month. This includes the HSB (except Brocken), the trams in Halberstadt and selected trains of the DB Regio and the HEX.
  • Selke train ticket allows the use of selected bus routes HVB and Selketalbahn and is valid for 3 days.
  • WiSel-Card is valid on selected train and bus routes in the direction of Mansfelder Land, only on weekends and on public holidays for one calendar day.

The following is an overview of the VTO price table, the price given is for an adult (except for family day tickets).
