organization

Seven dispatchers work in the traffic information center, and the service is managed by a coordinator. The employees also include around 1,800 traffic jam reporters who help to monitor the flow of traffic in the province of Bolzano, the municipal police, fire departments, road construction yards, the road police and carabinieri. The state traffic registration center can be reached 365 days a year - from Monday to Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Traffic jam reporter

In order to keep the traffic service in South Tyrol up-to-date at all times, the regional traffic reporting center uses a tried and tested tool: information from drivers for drivers. Traffic jam reporters forward traffic reports to the traffic information center via telephone. The travelers are informed via the so-called Population Information System (BIS), which has already been set up by the state administration for emergencies, especially in the area of civil protection. South Tyrol's frequent drivers are of course particularly addressed as potential traffic jam reporters, i.e. professional groups such as truck drivers, agents or bus chauffeurs. Membership in the club is non-binding and free of charge, calls to the VMZ are made via a green number and therefore do not entail any costs.
