The publishing house Kreuz (colloquially: Kreuz-Verlag) is a German-language book publisher based in Freiburg im Breisgau . It emerged from the Dornier publishing group and is the second largest publisher in the Herder publishing group . The Urania Verlag belongs to the Kreuz Verlag as an imprint .
history
In 1975 theseus-Verlag , founded by Silvius Dornier in Munich and Zurich , developed into the Dornier publishing group . After purchasing Urania Verlag in 1994, Verlag Kreuz in 1996 and Lüchow Verlag in 2002, the group's headquarters were relocated to Stuttgart in 2003 .
On the occasion of his 80th birthday, the sole shareholder Silvius Dornier reorganized his business and withdrew from active publishing activities. He sold his company on October 1, 2006 to the Herder publishing group, with the individual publishers of the Dornier publishing group being bundled under the umbrella of Verlag Kreuz GmbH. The commercial and sales forces of the Kreuz Verlag were quickly relocated to Freiburg, while the program work remained entirely in Stuttgart until 2008 and only moved to Freiburg in the course of 2009.
The handicraft books of Urania Verlag were merged with the creative publisher Christophorus, which had been taken over by Verlag Herder , and sold on January 1, 2009 by Verlag Kreuz to OZ Verlag in Rheinfelden with the approval of the Federal Cartel Office . Also with effect from January 1, 2009, the Kreuz publishing house sold the two divisions Theseus and Lüchow to the J. Kamphausen media group in Bielefeld , which is thus expanding its market position in the field of books on Buddhism, holistic healing and lifestyle. The Kreuz publishing house is thus concentrating on the core issues of spirituality, theology and psychology.
The publisher is a member of the German Book Trade Association .
Program and authors
The program of the Kreuz Verlag mainly includes non-fiction books from the areas of spirituality , religion , Christian theology , psychology and help in life. The most successful book titles of 2008 were published on the topics of grief, old age and consolation. The Kreuz publishing house also produces gift books , magazines , calendars , e-books and audio books . The audio books of the sister publisher Herder are also published under the Herder Audio label .
The most successful authors of the publishing house include Benedictine Father Anselm Grün , the psychologist Verena Kast , the non-fiction authors Hans Jellouschek and Ingrid Riedel , as well as the theologian Jörg Zink .
