The Vernaisson (also written: Vernaison ) is a river in France that runs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises in the Vercors Regional Nature Park in the municipality of Saint-Agnan-en-Vercors , first drains in a northerly direction, then turns to the northwest after about 15 kilometers, breaks into the valley of Échevis in the narrow gorge Grands Goulets , leaves it in an equally spectacular manner in several cascades and flows after a total of 32 kilometers at the municipal boundary of Saint-Eulalie-en-Royans and Pont-en-Royans as a left tributary into the Bourne . On its way, the Vernaisson crosses the Drôme department and in its mouth section forms the border with the Isère department .
