The Altmühltal administrative community is located in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen and is made up of the following four communities:
- Alesheim , 956 inhabitants, 20.45 km²
- Dittenheim , population 1815, 29.32 km²
- Markt Berolzheim , market , 1281 inhabitants, 14.55 km²
- Meinheim , 841 inhabitants, 16.36 km²
Population as of December 31, 2015
The administrative community is based in Meinheim. About five percent of the population of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district live in it (as of 2015). It is located in the south of Central Franconia. It is named after the Altmühl , the longest river in the region. The administrative community covers an area of 80.66 square kilometers, which corresponds to about eight percent of the district area.
