In the administrative community Rennsteig from the Thuringian Ilm district , three communities had come together to handle their administrative business.

The administrative association was based in Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig .

history

The administrative community was founded on May 16, 1996. The first chairman of the administrative community was from 1996 to 2008 Peter Brösing. As part of the Thuringia regional reform in 2018 and 2019 , the administrative community was dissolved on January 1, 2019. Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig was incorporated into the independent city of Suhl . The other two member communities were incorporated into Ilmenau .
