The administration community Riechheimer Berg is an amalgamation of seven municipalities in the Ilm district in Thuringia , Germany . Its seat is in Kirchheim , a district of the municipality of Amt Wachsenburg , which itself does not belong to the administrative community.

About 4,100 people live in the administrative community on an area of ​​94.8 km². It is located in the northeastern district and borders the Weimarer Land district in the east .

As a corporation under public law , the VG is a municipal association with a central administrative office. The chairperson of the VG is elected by the community assembly for six years. The municipalities are represented in the assembly by their mayors and other municipal council members.

history

The administrative community was founded on January 1, 1997 from the dissolved administrative communities Bösleben and Kirchheim . On January 1, 2019, as part of the Thuringia regional reform in 2018 and 2019, the member communities Kirchheim and Rockhausen were spun off from the administrative community. Kirchheim was incorporated into the municipality of Wachsenburg ; this became a fulfilling church for Rockhausen.
