Vicente Ramón Hernández Peña (born July 19, 1935 in Boconó ; † March 25, 2018 ) was a Venezuelan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Trujillo .

Life

Vicente Ramón Hernández Peña studied philosophy at the Seminary of Caracas and theology at the Catholic University of Leuven and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He received on 2 October 1960 in Leuven by the Archbishop of Mechelen, Leo Joseph Suenens , the ordination . He held various offices in the Archdiocese of Caracas, most recently as professor of liturgy at the interdiocesan seminary "Santa Rosa de Lima" in Caracas.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 3, 1974 titular bishop of Sullectum and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Caracas . The apostolic nuncio in Venezuela, Antonio del Giudice , donated him episcopal ordination on July 25th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were José Alí Lebrún Moratinos , Archbishop of Caracas , and Luis Eduardo Henríquez Jiménez , Bishop of Valencia en Venezuela .

The Pope appointed him coadjutor bishop of Trujillo on January 28, 1976. After the death of José Léon Rojas Chaparro , he succeeded him on June 11, 1982 as Bishop of Trujillo.

On April 3, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation put forward by Vicente Ramón Hernández Peña for reasons of age.
