Victor Dubuisson (born April 22, 1990 in Cannes ) is a French professional golfer on the European Tour .

Life / career

Dubuisson had a very successful amateur career, winning the European Amateur Championship in 2009 and rising to number 1 in the amateur world rankings. After participating in the 2010 Open Championship , he became a professional golfer. In the same year he qualified for the European Tour through the qualifying school .

His first success was in November 2013 when he won the Turkish Airlines Open . The associated winner's check of € 848,930 was the highest prize money for a French golfer to date.

Victor Dubuisson achieved his international breakthrough at the PGA " WGC Accenture Match-Play-Championship" from 19 to 23 Feb. 2014 at "The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Montain - Marana", USA, with 2nd place. In the final of the $ 9 million tournament (match game) he only had to admit defeat to Jason Day : 1 down in the jump-off after the 5th extra hole. In the rounds leading to the final, he defeated 5 top players in the world rankings: Kevin Streelman (5 on 4), Peter Hanson (3 on 1), Bubba Watson (1 on), Graeme McDowell (1 on) and Ernie Els with 1 on. Prize money: $ 1,530,000 for Winner's Day, $ 906,000 for Dubuisson.

In March 2012 Dubuisson was ranked 233 in the world golf rankings. With these successes, he improved to 23rd place. In 2014, he qualified for the European Ryder Cup team for the first time .
