Victor Kalinowski

Victor Kalinowski (also: Viktor Kalinowski , born August 24, 1879 in Schönfelde / East Prussia , † April 9, 1940 in Bielefeld ) was a German typesetter and writer .

Life

Victor Kalinowski was the son of a farm laborer. He attended elementary school in Schönbrück and then completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter in Allenstein . Years as a journeyman followed until he finally settled in the Ruhr area. From 1902 to 1933 he worked in the typesetting of the " Old Miners' Association " in Bochum . Kalinowski also wrote poems that appeared in an extensive collection in 1922 and made him one of the most important representatives of miner poetry during the 1920s . The planned publication of further works, u. a. a novel , in 1933 by the seizure of the Nazis prevented. Kalinowski lost his job, was subjected to repression from the state and finally had to leave Bochum . Most of his estate was destroyed by the Gestapo in 1942 .
