Victor Perli (born February 1, 1982 in Bad Oeynhausen ) is a German politician and has been a member of the Bundestag for Die Linke since 2017 . He is a member of the budget committee and redistribution policy spokesman for the left parliamentary group in the Bundestag. Before that, from 2008 to 2013 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament and deputy chairman of his parliamentary group.

Life

Perli was born as the child of an Italian-Dutch working-class family in Bad Oeynhausen. The family moved to Wolfenbüttel in 1993 , where Perli graduated from high school in the castle in 2001 . He then studied political science , sociology and modern history , first at the TU Braunschweig and from 2006 at the University of Potsdam . He completed his studies with the academic degree Magister Artium (MA) and then worked as managing director of a family business.

Political career

Victor Perli was interested in politics from an early age. As a student, his political commitment, according to his own statements, shaped the anti-nuclear movement in particular. He also organized demonstrations for better education, against the wars in Yugoslavia and Afghanistan and against neo-Nazis in his hometown of Wolfenbüttel. The trigger for the party political engagement were the war missions and the social cuts under the then red-green federal government.

Youth association

Since 2000 Perli was a member of the PDS-affiliated youth association ['solid] - the socialist youth . With the founding of the party DIE LINKE, the party-affiliated youth association Linksjugend [`solid] came into being , of which Perli was one of the founding spokesmen. From 2001 to 2003 he was state spokesman for the association, until 2005 as federal spokesman and from May 2007 to April 2008 as a member of the federal council of spokesmen.

One year after joining the youth association, he joined the PDS , which became part of the DIE LINKE party in 2007.

Lower Saxony state parliament

After the state election in Lower Saxony in 2008 , Victor Perli entered the state parliament via the state list of the Left in January 2008. There he was parliamentary group spokesman for youth, culture, science and research policy and campaigned against tuition fees, the right to vote from 16 and for culture in rural areas. In addition, Perli was a deputy member of the parliamentary committee of inquiry into the Asse II nuclear waste repository and called for the search for a repository to be restarted. In April 2011, he was elected deputy chairman of his group. In the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2013 , the left could not overcome the five percent hurdle and he left the state parliament on February 19, 2013.

Bundestag

In the 2017 federal election , Victor Perli ran for DIE LINKE in the Salzgitter - Wolfenbüttel constituency (constituency 49) and was elected to the Bundestag on September 24, 2017 at number 4 in the federal state list.

In the Bundestag, Perli is a member of the budget committee and oversees the BMVI, the BMI and the BMJV as well as the area of ​​data protection. Among other things, he discussed rail policy, rent and housing policy, the expansion of security systems such as the Federal Police and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the fight against right-wing extremism and the toll plans of Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer , against whom he and Fabio De Masi reported criminal charges in November 2019 posed. Perli speaks out openly against the new police law in Lower Saxony and supports the nationwide rent cap required by the DIE LINKE party . Perli is particularly critical of the implementation of the so-called IT consolidation, in which all federal authorities are to receive a uniform IT. He describes this as "a billion dollar grave for the taxpayer".

Perli's revelation about the corporate development of the motorway service station operator " Tank & Rast " received special media attention . In several Bundestag inquiries, Perli asked for information on the privatization processes of the service station operator, the concession fees to the federal government and federal investments.

Perli advocates the safe closure of the Asse II nuclear waste storage facility and the legally required retrieval of nuclear waste in his constituency of Salzgitter-Wolfenbüttel and calls for an end to nuclear energy.

Victor Perli has been chairman of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Lower Saxony since 2015 (as of 2019), a member of the education and science union, the tenants' association and the AG Schacht Konrad.
