Victor Zeppenfeld

Victor Zeppenfeld (born February 14, 1834 in Greiz , Principality of Reuss , † after 1883, presumably in Flensburg ) was a German genre painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Zeppenfeld was born as the son of a coppersmith in Greiz. His career began with training with the painter Martin Gensler in Hamburg . In May 1853, at the age of 19, he entered the Munich Art Academy , which he left after six months. Then he went to Düsseldorf , where he worked as a private student in the studio of the genre painter Rudolf Jordan . From Düsseldorf, Zeppenfeld undertook a series of study trips to places in Germany, Switzerland and Northern Italy. Between 1875 and 1883 he lived in Flensburg and Glücksburg . Zeppenfeld was a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association from 1832 .
