VideoArts Music KK ( Japanese ビ デ オ ア ー ツ ・ ミ ュ ー ジ ッ ク 株式会社 , Bideoātsu Myūjikku kabushiki kaisha ; English VideoArts Music Inc. ), or VACK for short , is a Japanese record label based in Minato , Tokyo , which has been producing international, music-oriented video productions since 1984 Produces and sells pop, rock and jazz. In the mid-1990s, the company expanded its field of activity to include the distribution of audio CDs.

VideoArts Music was founded in 1984 under the name VideoArts Japan . Since then, the company has been producing and selling international music programs in the genres of pop , rock and jazz on video cassette (later also on DVD ) . Today the catalog consists of more than 600 titles, most of which are productions by major labels . VideoArts Music sells productions from A&M Records , Island Visual Arts, PolyGram Video International and Eagle Rock Entertainment under an exclusive license . At the end of 2003, the company acquired the DVD distribution rights to the " Ed Sullivan Shows featuring The Beatles ".

According to its own information, VideoArts Music has released more than 40 of its own video productions so far. These became known for their outstanding quality and won prizes from specialist magazines such as the " Swing Journal " or "Adlib". Artists whose videos are marketed by the company include Keith Jarrett , Dave Grusin , Lee Ritenour , Pat Metheny, and Manhattan Transfer . In addition to the effort to always engage unmistakable artists, the label also tried to publish high-quality productions from a technical point of view. So that was live album from The Gadd Gang one of the first video productions worldwide, in audio and video digital was recorded and mixed. The Keith Jarrett Trio's album Live at East , released in 1993, is considered to be one of the first feature-length music programs to be produced in the new HDTV format.

In May 1992 the company expanded its field of activity to include the distribution of audio CDs . To date, more than 1000 titles in the genres of pop, rock, folk , world music and jazz have been published. These joined Video Arts Music first licensing agreements with labels such as Steeplechase off Discovery Records or NYC Records. In 1993 a license agreement followed with the US label Rykodisc , which owned the distribution rights to productions by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention , among other things . In 1996, a license agreement was signed with the French Dreyfus Jazz label, which released albums by Michel Petrucciani and Richard Galliano , among others .

VideoArts Music also dealt with producing contemporary jazz music. To date, more than 100 tracks have been released, including albums by Japanese musicians Kimiko Itoh and Naoko Terai . At the same time, the label produced a large number of internationally known musicians. It brought out albums by McCoy Tyner , Bud Shank , Eddie Henderson , Toninho Horta , Freddy Cole , Harvey Mason and the Manhattan Jazz Quintet.
