Viktor Maier (born May 16, 1990 in Kant , Soviet Union , today Kyrgyzstan ) is a Kyrgyz football player who also has German citizenship .
Career
Maier came to Germany with his parents at the age of ten months and grew up in Osnabrück . He began playing soccer at BW Schinkel and came to Hamburger SV via VfL Osnabrück , for whose youth teams he played until 2008 and where he was part of the second team until 2011. During his time at HSV, he completed a commercial apprenticeship.
After leaving HSV, Maier moved to Sportfreunde Lotte in the Regionalliga West . There he couldn't assert himself and didn't play a game. After half a year he was signed by VfL Osnabrück II . From July 2013 he was under contract for half a year with TSV Havelse in the Regionalliga Nord . In January 2014 he moved within the league to SV Meppen ; his contract is valid until 2017. At SV Meppen, Maier wore jersey number 9.
In the summer of 2016, Meier went to the Netherlands to join the second division club FC Emmen . A year later, he switched to the regional division SC Wiedenbrück .
National team
Maier played four times for the U-16 team of the DFB and took part in the 2007 European Championship with the U-17 .
Since he was born in what is now Kyrgyzstan, he is also eligible to play for the Kyrgyz Football Association . Maier played his first international match for Kyrgyzstan on June 11, 2015 against Bangladesh as part of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup . His second appearance in the qualifier against Australia followed five days later .
