Viktor Martinowitsch

Viktor Martinowitsch (born September 9, 1977 in Ashyany ) is a Belarusian writer.

Life

Viktor Martinowitsch studied in Minsk and received his doctorate in art history with a dissertation on the Vitebsk avant-garde .

Since 2005 he has been teaching history and political science at the European Humanist University , which moved from Belarus into political exile to Vilnius in Lithuania in 2004 . Martinovich's novel Paranoia was banned in Belarus shortly after its publication in December 2009. The novel was published by the Moscow publishing house ACT, and in 2013 in English and in 2014 in German translation by Voland & Quist , which also published the German translation of Mova in 2016 . From the end of 2016 to May 2017, Martinowitsch was Writer in Residence at the Literaturhaus Zürich and the PWG Foundation in Zürich.

In 2012 Martinowitsch received a literary prize named after Maksim Bahdanowitsch . His novel Sphagnum was on the longlist for the National Best Seller Prize 2013 in Russia.

Martinowitsch also writes regularly for Die Zeit (free text - field for literary thinking).
