Live and act

Plasil had been active as a musician since 1943 and initially performed with Herbert Mytteis and Ernst Landl in the Steffl-Diele . Then he worked under Landl and in the Hot Club Vienna , which existed until 1949 and was probably the most important jazz combo in Austria under Hans Koller in the early post-war years. Engagements in the Harmona Orchestra Othmar Serha , the Record Melodikern , the Standard Jazz Band and the Horst Winter dance orchestra followed. He also played in Johannes Fehring's orchestra . He was also a member of the RAVAG Symphonic Jazz Orchestra . In 1954 he founded the Austrian All Stars with Joe Zawinul , Carl Drewo , Hans Salomon and Dick Murphy , which existed until 1957 and also performed and recorded with Friedrich Gulda ( Vienna Jazz Workshop ); he was also part of the Zawinul Trio (with Johnny Fischer ). In 1957 he went on tour with Zawinul, Bud Shank , Bob Cooper and Albert Mangelsdorff . Then he belonged to the Michael Starch Trio, which also played with Eddie Lockjaw Davis , and again to Hans Koller's sextet. As a member of Fatty George's band , he was involved in the recording of HC Artmann with his transmission of Villon poems. In the late 1960s he played in Rudi Wilfer Trio and in the ORF - Big Band . He also recorded with Topsy Küppers .

Plasil, who, according to Jazz Podium, was Austria's most important jazz drummer in the first two decades after the end of the war, died in 2009 after a long illness. He was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .
