Viliam Chovanec (born April 4, 1973 in Czechoslovakia ) is a former Croatian - Slovak ice hockey player who played for HK Dragon Prešov , HKm Zvolen and MHC Nitra in the Slovakian extra league from 1994 to 2010 .

Career

Viliam Chovanec began his career as an ice hockey player in the 1994/95 season with HK Dragon Prešov in the Slovak Extra League . After two years there, he moved to league rivals HKm Zvolen , for whom he played until 2000, where he also ran up for SK Banská Bystrica in the second-class first division in the 1997/98 season. At the beginning of the 2000/01 season , the attacker joined the Extraliga participant MHC Nitra . Chovanec made his first club change abroad in the 2002/03 season when he moved to Germany for EV Ravensburg in the ice hockey league .

Another change followed in summer 2003, this time to the Croatian record champions KHL Medveščak Zagreb , with whom he won the Croatian championship title in 2004, 2005 and 2006 . He then spent the 2006/07 season in the Polish Ekstraliga at KTH Krynica , before returning to KHL Medveščak Zagreb for another year. From 2008 to 2010 he played for the MHK Sabinov in the 2nd division, the third Slovak division. He then ended his career at the age of 37.

International

For Croatia , Chovanec took part in the World Cup in Division II 2007 and in the World Cup in Division I in 2006 , 2008 , 2009 and 2010 .
