Villa Gohliser Strasse 8
Villa Gohliser Straße 8: front side with the triumphal arch motif

description

The “stately two-storey villa” is located on a large corner plot of land facing Pestalozzistraße, the garden part of which is in the south and east of the house and is thus oriented towards the street corner. The narrow-gauge Lößnitzgrundbahn runs across the street from Pestalozzistraße , which is what gave the kindergarten its name. The former residential building in the Italian neo-renaissance style is a plastered building with elaborate sandstone surrounds around the mostly rectangular windows; these are accompanied by straight roofs and sills . The former plaster structure has now been removed. Towards the top, the building, which is five by two axes, has a jamb , above which lies a flat hipped roof .

In the south facade there is a raised three-axis central projection with a massive single-storey veranda and a flight of stairs to the former park-like garden with old trees. Above the veranda, the upper floor of the risalit is decorated with a “ triumphal arch motif with aedicula ” along with round arched windows, in which there was originally an exit to the veranda. This triumphal arch motif is a representative example of the Dresden Semper Nicolai School of Saxon neo-Renaissance.

In the regular side view of Gohliser Straße there is a polygonal single-storey veranda.

history

The villa was built around 1880, the veranda facing Gohliser Strasse was "probably added later."

Today the integrative day care center “Zur Bimmelbahn” of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund is located there , for which a flatter two-story building was built on the north side of the converted villa, which is connected to the villa by a connecting structure.
