The Villa Roth am Grundlsee , also called Grundlsee Castle, is located on the Grundlsee near the village of Gößl in the Grundlsee community in the Liezen district in Styria .

history

The Viennese industrialist Jean Roth built a villa on Lake Grundlsee from 1879 to 1883 based on the plans of his brother and architect Franz Roth , which he used as a hunting lodge .

After Austria was annexed to Hitler's Germany, the Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels and his family used the castle.

The villa is privately owned.

architecture

The villa shows a historicist upper-middle-class alpine architectural style with a Wilhelminian style claim to a distinctive facade structure with cornices and arched windows with a tower.
