The Henaralmhütte is an unmanaged refuge belonging to the Friends of Nature Austria . The self-catering hut is located in the center of the Dead Mountains , near the border between Styria and Upper Austria. About 10 minutes' walk north is the Albert-Appel-Haus , a large managed hut belonging to the Austrian Tourist Association .

The Henaralmhütte is located at 1596  m above sea level. A. Height on the Henaralm. It is located on hiking trail 235 from Grundlsee to Albert-Appel-Haus and just at the intersection of many hiking trails through the Dead Mountains (201, 232, E4 Via Alpina ). In addition to the Henaralm, the high valley in the Henarwald on the edge of the large Karst plateau includes four other alpine pastures: Brunnwiesenalm, Breitwiesenalm, Augstwiesalm, Wildenseealm . A striking formation nearby is the Redende Stein ( 1900  m ).

The owner and operator is the Bad Aussee local group of Austria's Friends of Nature .
