The Pühringerhütte is a refuge of the Austrian Alpine Association in the Dead Mountains in the Styrian part of the Salzkammergut . The hut was inaugurated in autumn 1927.

It is located at 1637  m (according to other information at 1638  m ) above sea level at the foot of the Elm ( 2128  m ) and the Rotgschirr ( 2261  m ). The hut is on the long-distance hiking trail 01 (Northern Alpine Trail), on the alpine variant of the European long-distance hiking trail E4 and on the Via Alpina . It serves as a stopover when crossing the Dead Mountains from Loser via the Albert-Appel-Haus to the Prielschutzhaus and Großer Priel with a descent into the Hinterstoder.

Furnishing

As an overnight option, 48 beds are available in different sized mattress dorms and 30 beds in room dorms. The hut is open from May to the end of October.

For winter, a new storage facility was created for self- sufficient ski tourers in 2005, which is equipped with an oven and a toilet. The capacity for this winter storage is around 20 beds. Due to vandalism and dodging , the winter camp can only be used with a key from autumn 2018, which can be picked up at an Alpine Club office against a deposit.
