Violetta Zironi (born April 5, 1995 in Correggio , Emilia-Romagna ) is an Italian singer-songwriter who appeared at the beginning of her career as Violetta .

In 2013 the two digital singles Dimmi che non passa (6th place) and Let Her Go (81st place) reached chart positions in the Italian single charts.

biography

Childhood and youth

Her musical career began at the age of three. She attended the local children's choir in her hometown, then began to play the piano and also learned to play the acoustic guitar.

In 2012 she met the ukulele player Luca Tomassini, better known as Jontom , who taught Violetta this instrument. They performed together at the YOUkulele Festival in Rome in the summer of 2012. Violetta can also be heard on his EP Likelike Highway , where she sang three songs: the country classic Jackson and the Jontom compositions Ghost and Wherever I Go . The EP was released in 2012 by the independent label Insomnia Records .

X-Factor (2013-2014)

In 2013, Violetta took part in the casting for season 7 of the Italian version of The X Factor with her ukulele, which soon became her preferred stylistic device. After impressing the judges with a version of Shortnin 'Bread , she was selected for the show. In the end, she took third place. During the show she was signed by Sony Music and her single Dimmi Che Non Passa was released one day after the finale. The theme song was also the title with which she took third place in the final, behind Michele Bravi and Ape Escape .

During the show she played the Passenger - cover Let Her Go , which was also coupled as a single and number 81 of the Italian Single-Charts.

In 2014, Violetta was selected to sing the songs of Dorothy Gale in the Italian version of the cartoon The Legend of Oz - Dorothy's Return , released in Italy entitled Il magico mondo di Oz .

On June 21, 2014, Sony Music released Violetta's second single, Il primo giorno d'estate , a song by Luca Mattioni and Mario Cianchi and produced by Alessandro Magnanini. The music video for the song was released on July 4, 2014. Soon after, their version of Bring Me Sunshine was used in the TV commercial for the Italian biscuit brand Pavesini .

In the summer of 2014, shortly after the release of her second single, Violetta began touring with a country and bluegrass band that performed both their pop hits and some classic American roots and Celtic folk standards. The band performed at the Rockabilly Festival Summer Jamboree in Senigallia on August 2, 2014 , where Violetta was allowed to join Ben E. King on stage to sing Stand by Me with him .

On November 25, 2014, her version of Winter Wonderland was included in the X Factor Christmas 2014 compilation published by Sony Music , which included classic Christmas carols from all participants in the Italian season 8 of X Factor along with selected talent from previous seasons. In December 2014 she started the acoustic session tour, together with former X Factor candidate Fabio Santini , where the two American roots hits played on acoustic guitar and ukulele.

Further career

In 2015 Violetta's song "Eppure mi va" was shortlisted from 60 pieces that were supposed to appear in the newcomer section of the Sanremo Festival , but was ultimately not included. In April Violetta was support for Jack Savoretti's Written in Scars Tour. A solo tour took Violetta to Berlin, London, Milan and her hometown Reggio Emilia in late 2015 and in the first months of 2016. She was also shortlisted at the 2016 Sanremo Festival , but was not allowed to perform. In 2017 she took part in the 249th edition of the Hamburg Kitchen Sessions . She also toured the United States.

Violetta Zironi now lives in London. On February 23, 2018, Half Moon Lane released an EP on the label Pon't Danic Music .
