Vittorio Cerruti

Vittorio Cerruti (born May 25, 1881 in Novara ; † April 25, 1961 there ) was an Italian diplomat .

Life

Vittorio Cerruti was the son of Giuseppina Reclocchi and Cario Cerruti.

He studied law at the University of Rome until 1903 . In 1904 he joined the foreign service and from August 21, 1904 to 1915 he was legation secretary at the Italian embassy in Vienna . In 1907 he was a delegate at one of the Hague Peace Conferences . In 1908 he was promoted to second class legation secretary and in 1913 to first class legation secretary. In 1915 he was drafted into the General Staff of the Italian Army . In 1916 he was secretary of the embassy in Buenos Aires . He married Elisabetta de Paulay on June 2, 1923 in Shanghai .

From February 6, 1927 to May 12, 1930 he was ambassador to Moscow . From May 12, 1930 to August 25, 1932 he was ambassador to Rio de Janeiro . From August 25, 1932 to July 26, 1935 he was ambassador in Berlin . From July 26, 1935 to November 20, 1938 he was ambassador to Paris . On June 21, 1938 with the rank of ambassador in the retirement staggered.

From 1946 until his death he was chairman of the board of Banco Popolare di Novara .
